WhatsApp instant messaging service now has more than 250 million active monthly users. This achievement was revealed by WhatsApp to The Wall Street Journal.

With a monthly active number of users reaching 250 million, putting WhatsApp in the same position as services such as LinkedIn, which has more than 225 million users, and Twitter, which passed 200 million active users last December – although there are likely more accounts which is not active too.

WhatsApp, launched in 2009, is an instant messaging application that allows users to send messages for free from all major smartphone platforms. Earlier this month, WhatsApp revealed that it had reached a new daily record in terms of the number of messages sent via WhatsApp. This was revealed by WhatsApp through his official Twitter account.

Google and Facebook are both rumored to have considered acquiring this startup with a value of around $ 1 billion, but WhatsApp’s CEO firmly denied the rumors.
