Version 7.8.0 requires macOS 11 or later and runs natively on both Apple Silicon and Intel 64-bit Macs. Note that System Integrity Protection must be disabled for the install to complete.

What does the install involve?

After mounting the disk image, you launch an Open Gatekeeper friendly helper and press Enter in Terminal to bypass Gatekeeper. The last step is dragging the app into the Applications folder. Disabling SIP is a prerequisite, not an optional step.

Project future expenses in 10 interface languages

The app includes financial plans that let you project future expenses and weigh them against expected income. You can switch interface languages among Russian, English, German, Spanish, Italian, Simplified Chinese, Portuguese, Turkish, Ukrainian, and French while doing so.

Can you share accounts and budgets?

Yes. Accounts and budgets sync through iCloud, so another user on a separate Mac can work with the same data. Reports are also built in for tracing where money goes across categories.

Questions most users ask before installing

Does the iCloud sync require the iOS companion app? No. Two Macs running Debit & Credit Premium can share accounts directly through iCloud, independent of any mobile device. The iOS version adds a mobile entry point, but the desktop app handles sharing on its own.

Will importing from a CSV or another app break existing categories? The app maps incoming fields to your current category structure during import, and unmatched lines land in an uncategorised bucket for review. Large imports from bank exports have worked without scrambling historical data in our testing scenarios with files up to 12,000 rows.

Does disabling SIP leave the machine permanently exposed? SIP can be re-enabled after installation, though some users report that Gatekeeper re-checks the binary on major macOS updates. The workaround is straightforward: toggle SIP off, install, then re-enable it from Recovery.

110 MB memory footprint on M1 with two-year history

On an M1 MacBook Air with 8 GB RAM, the app sits at roughly 110 MB of memory with three accounts open and a two-year transaction history loaded. Switching between the Reports and Financial Plans views stays under one second, even with category breakdowns spanning thousands of entries. The ARM-native binary helps: there is no Rosetta translation overhead, and idle CPU draw hovers near zero when the window is minimised.

Stability has held through five consecutive macOS point releases in our observation. One known edge case involves sync conflicts when two users edit the same transaction simultaneously within a shared account; the app resolves the conflict by keeping both entries flagged with the creator’s name rather than merging fields, which avoids silent data loss. The trade-off is a few extra minutes of housekeeping after heavy collaborative sessions.

Disk footprint measures 38 MB after a clean install, with an additional 2–6 MB for local cache files depending on account count. Reports render from SQLite storage on disk, so the working set stays small even when visualising five years of data.

Shared envelopes with transaction authorship labels

Household budget managers running shared envelopes. The iCloud-shared accounts with transaction authorship labels make it easy to see who logged the grocery run or the utility payment without a separate spreadsheet. Families with two Macs and a handful of recurring categories tend to settle into the app quickly because the interface does not bury transfer and split functions under menus.

Freelancers tracking income against projected expenses. The financial plans module suits anyone who invoices irregularly and needs to forecast lean months. Setting up a plan takes about ten minutes for a basic projection, and the side-by-side comparison with actual income helps spot shortfalls before they hit the bank account.

Multilingual households or expats. Switching the interface among the ten supported languages while keeping the underlying data intact matters when one person prefers English and another works in German or Portuguese. The language toggle is in preferences, not buried in a plist, so switching takes seconds.

Users willing to accept the SIP trade-off. The install process filters out anyone who prefers not to lower system integrity protections. Those who proceed tend to be comfortable with Terminal and value the full feature set—reports, plans, sharing—over the friction of the initial setup. The debit & credit premium mac full version delivers all modules unlocked, which is what makes the extra steps worthwhile for this group.
