Final Draft runs on Intel-based Macs with macOS 12 Monterey or newer. An active internet connection is needed for the first sign-in, after which the app works locally. The interface is in English.
Formatting engine meets industry spec
Script formatting rules are strict and tedious to apply by hand. Final Draft handles them automatically — character names, dialogue margins, parentheticals, and scene headings snap into place as you type. The engine follows current television and film studio standards, so every page you output reads like a proper production draft without manual tab stops or style tweaks.
Structure and project management with Scrivener integration
Version 13 ties into Scrivener for project-level organisation. You can outline acts, sequences, and scenes in Scrivener’s corkboard and then write the script pages inside Final Draft. This pairing separates structural planning from page-by-page drafting, which suits writers who build complex narratives or work across multiple revisions of a long-form script.
